 5th EDITION OF ASAP WEST AFRICA ESSAY COMPETITION FOR UNDERGRADUATES

Entries for the 5th edition of ASAP West Africa essay competition will open on Monday, 20 December 2021. However, due to popular demand the organisers of the competition have decided that the competition for this year will focus on students in secondary schools. To this end, we encourage students at all levels of secondary school to participate, while undergraduates are expected not to participate.

The topic for the competition is “Child Labour is a Consequence of Poverty and Poverty Violates Human Rights: Discuss”.

To participate, students should submit an essay (maximum of 5,000 words) as well as a short profile. The profile should include; name, school and class of each participant. The essay and profile should be submitted to academics@asapwestafrica.org. Participants are advised to avoid plagiarism. The winner will receive a cash prize in the sum of N150,000.  Entries will close on 16 August 2022.

3rd EDITION OF ASAP WEST AFRICA ESSAY COMPETITION FOR UNDERGRADUATES

Entries for the third edition of ASAP West Africa essay competition for undergraduate students will open on Monday 29 July 2019. The topic for the competition is ‘’One Hundred Million Nigerians to live above poverty line in ten years: A Critical Appraisal’’.

To participate students should submit an essay of not more than 4,000 words as well as a short profile not more than 150 words. The profile should include name, institution, course of study and year of study. The essay, profile as well as a copy of student identity card should be submitted to academics@asapwestafrica.org. Participants are advised to avoid plagiarism and submitting more than one entryin order not to be disqualified. The winner will receive a cash prize in the sum of N250,000. Entries will close on 15 January 2020.

ASAP WEST AFRICA ESSAY COMPETITION

Following the success of ASAP West Africa inaugural essay competition for undergraduate students, Entries for the 2nd edition will open on Monday 23 July 2018. The topic for the competition is ‘’Impact of Leadership and Governance on Poverty Alleviation in Africa’’.

To participate, students should submit an essay of not more than 3,000 words as well as a short profile not more than 150 words. The profile should include name, institution, course of study and year of study. The essay, profile as well as a copy of student identity card should be submitted to academics@asapwestafrica.org

Entries will close on 10 December 2018 and the winner will be announced on 31 January 2019. The winner will receive a cash prize in the sum of N250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).  Participants should avoid submitting more than one entry in order not to be disqualified.

ASAP WEST AFRICA ESSAY COMPETITION

Academics Stand Against Poverty (ASAP) West Africa is set to introduce its inaugural essay competition for undergraduate students, to be known as BANDELE OLANREWAJU ESSAY COMPETITION. The competition seeks to improve the reading culture of students, as well as assess their writing and analytical skills.

The essay competition will hold annually and is open to all undergraduate students in West Africa. The topic for this year’s competition is ‘’Eradication of poverty: a key factor in achieving social justice’’. Discuss. Essays can be written in English and French languages.

Entries will open on 24 July 2017 and close on 10 November 2017. The winner will be announced on 29 December 2017. Apart from receiving a cash prize of N100,000, the winner of the competition will have the opportunity to present the essay at the 2018 ASAP West Africa conference.
